How did the addition of the two weapons influence the overall design and flow of your level?
The addition of the 2 weapons influenced the level a lot by having parts of the map allowing the user to use the ability Power A to punch through the destructible blocks. The second ability Freeze.C allows players to freeze any obstacle. The player will use the abilities throughout the level completing obstacles with the unique use of the weapons.
Are there any sections in your level where using a specific weapon is essential or especially helpful?

The first part of my level contains the weapon of Power A, that allows for a strong strike on enemies. The player is also able to destroy a block designed for the weapon so the player can bash his way through. Going halfway through the level the player will get introduced to a new weapon called Freeze.C. The weapon will help the player by freezing the enemies for a good second and can also freeze lava.

Does the placement of enemies encourage players to use one weapon over another?
In my level the player will pick up one weapon and later on lose it to get access to the other weapon. The play test has shown players cycling back to the normal weapon but then releasing that it's better to keep the new weapon. The enemy placement is perfect allowing the players if they fail to complete the obstacles they are met with a destructible block for the use of the Power A weapon.
When the player is introduced to the second weapon most people that test played, they kept the Freeze.C weapon. The weapon allows the player to go through the last bit of the map faster due to the ability to freeze enemies and lava.
How do environmental obstacles or objects interact with the weapons you've chosen?
In the first part of my level the player has to destroy the blocks around the map using the Power.A weapon. In the second part of the map the Freeze.C weapons are used to freeze environmental obstacles, like the lava and freeze enemies for a short period of time. Players will receive a quick tutorial on how to use each weapon in order to advance.

What was your approach to balancing combat, platforming, and weapon use throughout the level?
My approach for keeping a balance in the level was in the first part when the player is met with three spike traps and two Hari’s below.
This is a good example if they fail to get to the other side they will get hit with lots of damage, but once destroying the block with Power A they will get met with a health spawner where they can get back to full health.
How did you teach players how to effectively use the new weapons?
When you arrive at the weapon capsule you will see blocks ahead not letting the player advance unless they destroy them.
The player is introduced to the ability of the weapon by charging up and shooting the wall up close to get rid of the blocks. When the player arrives at the freeze.C weapon they are introduced to enemies where they can see once hit they freeze for a quick second shown in the video at the beginning. The lava portion they will have to figure out themselves because they will have to go up but need something to boost them up so players will try and see how they will figure it out ending up with the player probably shooting and freezing the lava.
Did you give players ample opportunities to experiment with the new weapons before presenting more challenging situations?
The first weapon I have 2 parts in the beginning where the player will understand how the weapon and ability is used with blocks, not letting them go to the next part without understanding the use of the weapon .When the second weapon is introduced they are faced with an enemy shooting at them, so they find themselves needed to freeze the fired shots and attacker to continue. After defeating the enemy the player won’t be able to continue without freezing the lava.
